The Petrico team gears up for marathon charity hike

2 July 2021

After 15 months of inactivity thanks to Covid-19, the Petrico ‘Peaky Plodders’ have donned their training gear once again and are getting ready to tackle the Gower Peninsula Mighty Marathon Hike on July 10 to raise all-important funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event was originally scheduled for summer 2020 but had to be postponed because of Covid restrictions.
The Petrico Peaky Plodders team comprises Andrew Lamb, Rachael Turner, Chris Cullen and Alex Galbur, who are all champing at the bit to cover the 26-mile hike, which starts and finishes at Penrice Castle, Reynoldston.
Macmillan’s Mighty Hikes are a series of one-day hiking marathons across some of the most beautiful and unspoiled parts of the UK, with all sponsorship money going to Macmillan as it helps those with cancer live life as fully as possible, providing physical, financial and emotional support.
“Many of us have been affected by cancer with one in three people contracting the illness during their lives, so we would really appreciate your support for this very worthy cause,” says Andrew.
